® This temple is called Brihu Ashramam because Rishi Brihu worshiped this Neiyaadiyappar then. ® The Neiyaadiyappar Lingam is Deiveega Lingam (a lingam which was erected by Devar’s that is called Deiveega Lingam). The Sanctum Sanctorum of the temple (Main Sannithi) looks as if when Gnana Sambandar and Thirunaavukkarasar visited here. Researchers believe that this temple is holding it’s originality over many centuries. Later a temple has been erected by Aditya Chola (AD 871-907). Suddenly the cow disappeared and Lingam appeared. As usual it went the same spot and poured milk. One day the owner of the cow has followed the particular cow noticed, what that cow was doing. Once, a cow from its group usually goes and pours milk in a particular place. This is one of the specialties to this goddess. Usually Thirunaavukkarasar didn’t mention goddess in his thevarams, but, in his verse about Neiyaadiyappar he is mentioned goddess name also (“Aenthila Mangayum neeyum, Neithaana thirundaduve”). Other than thevaram Arunagiri naathar sung 1 song in his Thiruppuhaz, Ottakkoothar and Puhazendhi also sung each 1 song from their poems. Totally 7 padigams have been sung about Neiyadiyappar. Thirunaavukkarasar has sung 5 pathigam (verse), Thirugnanasambandar has sung 1 pathigam and Sundarar has sung 1 song about this god. This temple is one of the 274 thevaara sthalams and 52 nd out of 63 thevara sthalams situated in north bank of cauvery. Worshipped by : Kaamadhenu, Rishi Kaashyapar & Goddess Saraswathi.
